Politics always amazes me in such a way that the candidates would sometimes go to the extreme to get ahead of the other. Mud slinging, character attacks, questioning each others patriotism, posting an ad that sometimes doesn’t even have to do with anything regarding their aspiration in running for presidency, you name it. Both parties (Republican and Democrat) are guilty of throwing punches at each other; no wonder nothing gets done in the House when the race s over because there is still that rift between them from dirty campaigning. Like many others I am interested on who’s going to win this election. I’m a registered Democrat in California but that doesn’t really make any difference unless I lived in Ohio or maybe Indiana. But here’s my take on both candidates John McCain and Barack Obama.
McCain
The man proved that he can reach across the aisle by his voting record. I like the fact that he is not one of those far right Republicans, that’s why some of his colleagues do not like him for that reason. I must say an opposition from your own party is a good thing. Personally, I like working with people who at times have disagreement with me. I think it would benefit him if he picks up a running mate who is young and fresh outside of Washington.
Obama
It would be a dream ticket if he would pick Hillary; and I think he will. Recent polls show that McCain leads him and if he doesn’t pick the Hillary voters who vowed would vote for McCain instead, he might be kissing the presidency goodbye. I don’t seem to like Hillary because I always thought she puts on a fake face but hey, who am I to judge, right. So if Obama can put away their differences, I think they would be a hands down choice.
I don’t really care who wins because I’m just one person. Yeah, yeah, yeah you can make the argument about the other people who thinks like me. Okay, so there are 2 of us, maybe 100 or a 1,000 or even a million, who cares? Even the one in power that cares cannot do anything? All I can say is I had a good 4 years under Clinton, and a better 4 years the following. It was an okay 4 years with Bush and a terrible 4 years after. The sad part is every time I drive from Oakland to Concord where I worked and vice versa I always pass by the little crosses indicating how many soldiers have died in the war. I wonder how the more than 4,000 mother, father, sons and daughters are coping up right now. Did the government care or will my vote make a difference…………..I think NOT.
